Compact Spring Supports Designed for an Oil Refinery in Minnesota

These compact spring supports were custom designed for an oil refinery in Minnesota. Typically, compact spring supports are used to support large loads but small movements relieving process equipment nozzles from overloading. In this case, the springs are designed to support loads of 5,605 lb., 4,747 lb. and 1,250 lb. and movements of 0.133” and 0.029” upward and 0.199″ downward, respectfully.

Compact spring supports utilize engineered Belleville (disc spring) washers. Since these spring supports contain disc springs, both the support housings and the springs contained in the housings are made from 304 stainless steel. Corrosion resistance is significantly increased by using this combination. Glass coatings can also be applied to both the housing and springs to make the support system virtually impervious. Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

Custom Compact Springs Designed to Support a Storage Tank

Type: Compact Spring Supports
Material: A-36 Carbon Steel | HDG | Stainless Steel
Design: 0.25″ Movement (upward) | 5,000 lb. Load
Testing: Load and Travel Testing

These compact spring supports were custom designed to support a storage tank at a facility in Texas. The housing was fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and hot-dipped galvanized to protect them against corrosion. The disc springs are engineered using the stainless steel Belleville disc springs designed for large loads but small movements. In this case, the springs are designed to support a load of 5,000 lb. and movement of 0.25″ (upward). Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

Compact Spring Supports Designed for a Pump Application in Wyoming

These compact spring supports were custom designed and built within 4 weeks to support a pump for a facility in Wyoming. The housing was fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and hot-dipped galvanized to protect them against corrosion. The disc springs are engineered using the stainless steel Belleville disc springs designed for large loads but small movements. In this case, the springs are designed to support a load of 11,137 lb. and movement of 0.018″ (upward). Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

The compact size and resistance to corrosion attributes of these compact spring supports make them ideal for placement under the discharge piping of a pump at this facility. By using these compact spring supports directly on the pump, excessive thermal loading on the pump’s discharge nozzle is resolved and brings it within the pump manufacturer’s allowable limit, so the pump will operate safely, as intended which also results in extended life and low maintenance.
