Designed for 20″ to 30″ pipe sizes, these HD-2 and HD-3 hold-down pipe clamps were shipped to a gas pump station in South Dakota. The hold downs were fabricated from carbon steel with PTFE, 25% glass filled liners on the saddle portion and base of the pipe clamp. We fabricated a total of 22 hold down pipe clamps and shipped this rush job within one week.

Custom Designed Elevated Hold-Down Clamp Assembly Fabricated for a 54" Suction Line in a Gas Plant

The 54″ suction line carrying gas to a gas compressor at a rate of 1.7 million lb./hr. developed a severe vibration. The deflections in the line were up to 3/4″ and it was fully observable during operation.

PT&P designed and manufactured a special elevated hold-down clamp, including a unique laminated vibration dampening lining. The entire pipe hanger assembly stands 22′ high and is coated with a carboline zinc finish. After installation and resumption of operations, the vibrations are now almost imperceptible.

Two 16 Dia. HD-2 Hold Down Clamps for an Oil Refinery

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. recently designed and manufactured two HD-2 hold down clamps to fit a 16 pipe at an oil refinery in Michigan. These hold down clamps are designed to be used on pipe lines where there is a high temperature and great thermal movement requirements. They allow axial movement while restraining lateral movement. The clamp and base plate are fabricated from carbon steel with PTFE, 25% glass filled, bonded to the radius and plate.

Two Hundred HD-2 Hold Down Clamps

PT&P designed and manufactured two hundred and thirty HD-2 hold down clamps to fit 6” to 8” pipes at a chemical refinery. These hold down clamps are used on pipe lines where there is a high temperature and great thermal movement requirements, they allow axial movement and restrain lateral movement at the same time. The clamps are fabricated from carbon steel with 3/32” PTFE, 25% glass filled, bonded to the radius. The plates are manufactured from three layers of materials; 3/32” PTFE, 25% glass filled, 1/2” thick fabric belting material and carbon steel.

42” Hold Down with Wedge Support

PT&P designed and fabricated a Hold Down with wedge support for a 42” pipe. The entire assembly is PTFE, 25% glass filled, bonded and will be used to control and reduce pipe vibration at an LNG plant. Both the Hold Down and wedge support are made from A36 Carbon Steel and a fabric pad which is exceptionally suited for vibration impact and declination.

Hold Down Clamps for an Engineering and Construction Company

Piping Technology & Products manufactured 2″ hold down clamps (figure HD-1) for an engineering and construction company.
The figure HD-1 is PT&P’s anchor type hold down and is usually used on pipe lines where little or no insulation is required. These hold down clamps were constructed of SA36 carbon steel for temperatures to 750ºF.
Arrestor Type Hold Down

The above photo shows an arrestor type hold down. This type of restraint is used when there is very low thermal movement. Its radius is lined with a belting material designed to absorb shock from movement. It is widely used on compressor lines or similar applications. The restraint type hold down’s clamp radius and base is lined with PT&P’s PTFE slide plate which allows for axial movement while restraining lateral movement and used on compressor lines where temperatures are high and thermal movement is great. This anchor type hold down is utilized on pipelines and require little or no insulation. It is fabricated from carbon steel and can be used in temperatures up to 750oF.
