Laminated Beechwood Technical Information

Permali® and Insulam® are high-performance insulating materials designed for applications requiring high tensile and compressive strength (see table below). Due to their exceptional resistance to moisture, these materials are particularly well-suited for use in pipe support applications—such as flare lines and dummy legs—where exposure to harsh environmental conditions is common.

Permali® and Insulam® are phenolic laminated products (densified, resin-impregnated wood) manufactured from carefully selected thin beechwood veneers. These veneers are impregnated under vacuum conditions with a specialized synthetic resin and then densified through the application of heat and pressure.

The result is a homogeneous material that combines the inherent strength and toughness of natural wood fibers with the enhanced stability, durability, and dielectric properties of advanced thermosetting resins.

The laminated block material is produced with cross-directional fiber orientation, as illustrated in Figure 10 below, providing uniform strength and improved performance in multiple loading directions.

NOTE: Cross-laminated.
For components in compression or for parts stressed in more than one direction.
