PTP-100 Type C Constant

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. custom designed and manufactured four PTP-100 Type G constants and three PTP-100 Type C constants for a power station in Missouri.  The PTP-100 Type C constants are designed for operating loads of 8,300 lbs. to 25,200 lbs. and have a travel range of 2.5 to 3.5. These constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with dimensions ranging from 66×18 to 88×20.

The PTP-100 Type G constants are designed for operating loads ranging from 2,800 lbs. to 38,800 lb. and a travel range of 2.5 to 3.5. They are fabricated out of A36 carbon steel with dimensions ranging from 75×26.5 to 95×50. Standard load and adjustment testing was performed to ensure quality prior to shipping.

Sweco Fab, Inc. recently designed and manufactured a 1,900 lb. transition piece for an olefin site at Chocolate Bayou on the Texas Gulf Coast. The product transitions from round to oval and is made of 36″ half pipe construction. The piece measures 36″ x 72″ x 60″ and is constructed of carbon steel. The transition piece will be used to regulate the flow of both air and liquid. Prior to shipping the product was hydrotested to guarantee quality.

Each post of the frame measures 11’x11’x11′ with knee braces 15′ long at 45º to the vertical post. The structure is made of carbon steel and includes W6X15 beams. The frame supports 24′ auxiliary cooling water lines and can sustain vertical operating loads of up to 13,500 lbs. This structure is also designed to withstand a seismic loading factor of .49 in all directions.

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. custom designed and manufactured variable springs to be used in conjunction with a rod and clevis assembly for a power plant in West Virginia.  Since the operating loads specified by the customer were greater than the maximum loads for the largest PT&P spring, custom units needed to be built for this application. The springs were fabricated using a large spring coil, normally only used in constant spring assemblies. The spring is 20 1/2″ in diameter and has a standing height of 51″. All components of the pipe hanger assembly were made from carbon steel and were supplied with a hot-dipped galvanized finish. The spring is 20 1/2″ in diameter and has a standing height of 51″.  The rods will be attached to type A variable springs designed to support loads from 850 lbs. to 13,300 lbs. Manufactured from A-36 carbon steel, the rods are 3/4″ to 2″ in diameter and range in length from 68″ to 95″.

To prevent contamination at high temperatures, a non-galvanized finish was applied to the rods per customer’s request. Prior to delivery, a 100% dye-penetrant test was preformed to ensure quality.  The variable springs were tested in the load cell to insure proper operation and also to set the cold load to the specifications as provided by the customer.

The Bronzphite® slide plates shown above are constructed from graphite and phosphorus bronze with dimensions ranging from 3″ x 3″ to 6″ x 36″. They are designed for up to 500ºF and a total travel of up to 30″.

In general, Bronzphite® is a self-lubricating bearing plate made of a high quality bronze with graphite filled grooves. The solid graphite inserts are arranged in various patterns and sizes to meet customer specifications. This type of slide plate is best suited for high loads, low velocity applications and in places where the use of oil or grease in undesirable or unfeasible.

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. recently fabricated 48 PTP-200 type U and 54 PTP-100 type B constants for an oil refinery in Texas.  The PTP 200 type U with base support constants are designed for operating loads ranging from 650 lbs. to 7700 lbs. and a travel range of 3″ to 4″. They are fabricated out of A36 carbon steel with dimensions ranging from 15″x22″ to 27″x38″. The PTP 100 type B constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with dimensions ranging from 11.5″x23″ to 12″x29″ and total travel of 3″ to 4″. These constants are designed for operation loads ranging from 1100 lbs. to 2800 lbs.  Space restrictions required a customized compact design. Standard load testing was performed to ensure product quality prior to shipping.

The pipe supports are specifically designed for use in cryogenic lines using polyurethane insulation that can withstand temperatures as low as -51° F. The supports weigh between 17 & 36 lbs. each and are designed for pipe sizes ranging from 2 to 4 in diameter. The clamp and base used with this pipe support are fabricated from A36 carbon steel. Upon customer’s request, a three layer customized paint was applied to the clamp and base.

Sweco Fab, Inc. recently designed and manufactured a 30,000 lb. Seawall Outfall Flow Regulating Device for a sea water outlet in Qatar. This 320 long flow conditioner is designed to allow water to flow through evenly. There are nineteen 16 FRP pipes inside an 84 diameter carbon steel pipe. The pipe bundle is secured within the 84 diameter shell pipe using spring washers, which keep the bundle tight and allows for differential expansion between the steel and FRP.

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. recently designed and manufactured a hydraulic snubber weighing 4000 pounds for an oil refinery in Mexico.  The snubber is fabricated from carbon steel with dimensions of 17 x 101. It supports a maximum load of 225,000 lbs. The purpose of the hydraulic snubber is to reduce shock loading created by events such as water hammer or an earthquake. To meet customer specifications, the hydraulic snubber was coated with a three-coat paint system.

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. recently assisted in the design and fabrication of a special hot shoe with adjustable lateral stops for an oil refinery in LA. The shoe assembly is designed to support loads up to 6000 lb. and to guide pipes that may reach up to 1200°F. The hot shoe consists of a 12 thick mineral wool insulation, an inner clamp surrounded by four load transfer plates, an outer guiding clamp, and four guide assemblies with PTFE, 25% glass filled, slide plates. The load transfer plates provide support and prevent damage to the insulation between the inner and outer guiding clamp.

The guide assemblies (comprised of the four guides on the shoe and the adjustable stops) are designed to account for lateral, vertical, and axial movement. PTFE, 25% glass filled, slide plates are used to minimize friction caused by movement between the shoe and the adjustable stops. The adjustable stops are fabricated from a 1 x 12 x 19 carbon steel plate with four rods and two angles. These allow for flexibility in adjusting the distance/gap within each guide assembly to control movement.

PT&P recently designed and manufactured six, PTP-4-160 type C variable springs with riser clamps for an oil refinery in Texas.  These variable springs are constructed from carbon steel and designed to support loads of 6600 lb. with a total travel of 2″. The clamps are fabricated from A 387 Gr. 22 alloy steel to fit 18″ pipes. Dimensional and fit-up tests were performed on the variable springs and riser clamps prior to shipping.

Sweco Fab, Inc. recently designed and fabricated a 2800 lb. pressure vessel for an oil refining company in the United Arab Emirates. This pressure vessel will be used as a dust collector to filter a process fluid for an unleaded gasoline project. The vessel, 30″ in diameter and 14′-11″ OAL, is designed for 150 PSIG and 248°F. Spot radiography, dye-penetrant, and hydrostatic tests were implemented to ensure product quality.

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. recently designed and fabricated eighteen 1,200 lb to 5,800 lb. load PTP-2 type F size 100 to 150 variable springs for a company in South Korea. These variable springs fabricated from carbon steel are designed for 200°F. They have an overall height of 9.5″ to 11.5″ and are designed for a travel range of 1/8″ upward to 3/16″ downward. Per the customer’s request the variables were coated with a custom paint. To ensure quality, standard load testing was performed on the variables prior to shipping.
