PT&P custom designed and manufactured ten 200 U-Type constant spring supports with slide plates for a Oil Refinery in Texas. They are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with an HDG finish for plates, angles, and cans. Its dimensions are 31″ in height and 52″ in length with 19” in width. They are designed for a movement of 3 ½” up to 9 ½” and an operating load of 1100 lbs up to 4800 lbs. They were custom designed to match the box dimensions of a competitor. The units had a Standard Load Test performed prior to shipment.
These screen guides were specially fabricated embed steel for a cooling tower at a chemical plant in Texas. They are 10″ in width and are 42″ in length, with bent “strip anchor bars” that are welded to the plate. These anchor bars are used to secure the plate into the concrete. All components were completely fabricated from A36 carbon steel with a galvanized finish. Standard quality control inspections were performed prior to shipment.
These are special high-strength anchor bolts used in a coal-fired power plant to secure the water pumps’ foundation. They range from 1” to 3 1/2” in diameter and 137” in length. The actual bolts are made from ASTM low Alloy Steel F1554-04, grade 55. This steel has a tensile strength of 517-655 Mpa, (75-95 Ksi), and a yield strength of 380 Mpa, (55 Ksi). The nuts are made from ASTM A563, grade A, and the washers from ASTM F436, Type 1. The bolts are threaded per UNC threading, class 2A fit, and the finish is plain.

PT&P designed and manufactured two 240″ x 12″ x 1/2″ Embed Plates with 3/4″ diameter weld-stud projections to be used in a concrete reinforcement application. All components are fabricated out of carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish. The plates were shaped to form a 45″ x 90″ frame prior to shipment. The frames were braced with 2″ x 2″ x 1/4″ angles to ensure the frame maintained its structural shape prior to installation.

PT&P Manufactures Custom Designed Embed Plates for Gold Mine in Cajamarca, Peru
Piping Technology & Products, Inc., designed and manufactured 150 special embed plate pieces for Latin America’s largest gold producer. This project involved the production of one hundred fifty, 93″ x 27″ x 1″ embed plates which required the use of 80,000 pounds of steel and anchors. The custom designed, carbon steel, embed plates are to provide stability for the feed openings of four mineshaft reclaim tunnels and are scheduled to be put to use immediately.
How to Avoid Pipe Stress
What is Pipe Stress?
“Pipe Stress” refers to piping flexibility analysis.
High Stress Locations on Pipes
High stress areas generally occur at piping elbows, tees and other branch connections. The B 31.3 Piping Code provides stress intensification factors for such locations. Computer piping programs generally do piping flexibility analysis for those other than very simple systems.
Signs of Pipe Stress
An overstressed system could fail by fatigue, leading to a crack, buckling of the elbows, or overload on equipment nozzles.
How to Reduce Pipe Stress
High stress should be uncovered in the design stage. However, existing systems can be checked for incipient cracks by x-ray, ultrasound, acoustic emission or dye penetrant. Also, rerouting the pipe can provide more flexibility and sometimes reduce high stress. When rerouting is impossible or not practical, then pipe stress can be reduced significantly by adding Bellows Expansion Joints. Any sections of the pipe showing cracks must be replaced.

Piping Technology & Products, Inc., designed and manufactured 150 special embed plate pieces for 4 gold mines in Cajamarca, a province of northwestern Peru.
At an altitude of 4,700 m, this complex of four gold mines and processing facility is Latin America’s largest gold producer. The gold district is a 10 by 4-km zone of altered rocks with a belt of Tertiary volcanic that extends through Peru.

The photograph above shows anchor bolts, which are to be set in concrete with only a short portion above the surface. They are used to anchor equipment to a concrete slab by attaching to the bolts. Several of these at the top of the picture have polyethylene sleeves, which keep the wet concrete away from the bolt just below the surface. This makes it easier to make slight adjustments to the position of the bolt during attachment to the equipment which is to be anchored.
The picture above is of Type-3 galvanized anchor bolts, a standard product in our line of stock anchor bolts. However, Piping Technology & Products can also fabricate customized anchor bolts to meet your materials, diameter and shape specifications for any industry, i.e. refineries, chemical plants, power plants, etc. We specialize in quick turn-around projects and are available on a 24×7 basis to meet your support requirements.
