U-Type Constants with Rollers to Reduce Friction
July 29, 2009
This constant utilizes sealed cam follower roller bearings in place of slide plates that are generally used between the moving table and stationary frame. The rollers help to reduce the friction on the table, reduce residual loads which improve constant deviation, and help to restrict table movement in horizontal directions. These U-Type constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with dimensions of 28″H x 37″L x 17″W. The boxing, bolting patterns and loading table location are custom designed per customer specifications. The design also includes a graphite plate bonded to the top of the load flange to reduce the friction between the constant load flange and the saddle support above it. The supports are designed to carry 3015 lb. of piping load with an upward travel of 6″. The constants underwent standard load and travel testing before being shipped to an energy plant.

C-Type Constant with Special Lugs for a Power Plant
April 8, 2009
This PT&P 100 C-Type constant spring support was designed in conjunction with special lugs to fit inside of a trolley. The lugs will provide for movement up and down, as well as extensive horizontal movement. This constant was fabricated entirely from A-36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanize finish. The constant measures 16″ wide x 25″ long x 56″ high. It is designed to carry 16,164 lb. of piping load with a travel of 3 1/2″ downward. The lugs will fit within a trolley by a single pin connection. This configuration will prevent swinging by maintaining the constant in an upright position, which will ensure proper functionality and eliminate any load deviation.

200 U-Type Constant Spring Supports with Slide Plates to Reduce Friction
March 25, 2009
These custom designed constants will be utilized for a heavy load of 109,000 lb. They are designed for a downward travel of 1 1/2″. In order to support the heavy load and low take-off, the constants are designed with an inner and outer spring coil with the outer coil measuring 56″L with a 18 3/4″ O.D. These U-Type constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanize finish.
The dimensions of the constant are 31″H x 90″L x 32″W. The image above shows a PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plate on top to reduce the friction between the constant load flange and the structure above the support. The constant also includes slide plates between the table and the frame of the constant to reduce the friction on the table and improve constant deviation.

Vertical F-Type Constants for Power Plant
July 19, 2002
Piping Technology & Products custom designed and manufactured vertical F-type constants for a power plant in Connecticut.
The 100 type F is a vertical constant designed to support piping from below with minimum space usage. The dimensions of the constant are 26-5/8″ high, 10″ wide, and 17-9/16″ long with an operating load of 280 lbs.
This particular F constant, was unusual in that it was furnished with a vertical spring that attaches below the frame of the constant. In addition to a downward travel of 3″, the flange table shifts forward at 1-3/8″ to minimize axial movement.
A galvanized finish was applied to the constant to prevent corrosion. The constants can be bolted on or welded to the support or steel underneath.

400 Lightweight, Vertical Constant Load Hangers
February 15, 2002
Piping Technology & Products, Inc. specially designed and fabricated four hundred 100-C, vertical constant load hangers for a plastics plant in Texas. The constants will be used to support a furnace standing three levels high.
In the plant, thirteen single beams confined to limited space will each hang thirty constants, therefore PT&P engineers were required to design the constants to weigh less than 150 pounds. The 136-pound constants with travels of 10 inches upward and a supporting load of 950 pounds, are 33 7/8″ in height and 8 7/8″ in width. They are also supplied with shop prime, painted finish to safeguard against the extremely hot temperatures of the furnace area. In order to insure quality and proper operations of the constants, a prototype was built and tested to MSS standards.

In January 2000, Piping Technology & Products, Inc., a manufacturer of high quality engineered products, designed and built two 33 1/2 inches travel and two 25 inches travel constant load spring hangers. These constant load spring hangers will be in service at a geothermal production well in Hawaii, where they will be used to support a pipe that carries hot water discharged from a geothermal production well to a separator.
The well will produce 2.8 Million gallons of water per hour at a discharge temperature of 680° F, and a pressure of 2800 psi. These custom designed constant load spring hangers provide extraordinarily large travel distance. The 33 1/2″ travel and the 25″ travel constant load spring hangers are designed to provide a constant 16,000 lbs. and 6,000 lbs support for a pipe moving a vertical distance of 33 1/2″ and 25″ respectively.

Specially Designed Vertical Constants
June 1, 1993
The vertical constant is used when piping stress is critical and pipe is subject to vertical movement in excess of ½ inch due to thermal expansion, and also at locations here it is necessary to avid any transfer of stress from support or onto critical terminals or connecting equipment. These constants are manufactured by Piping Technology & Products, Inc.
