110 Custom Designed Pipe Clamps For A Construction Company In Ohio

Type: Pipe Clamps
Size: 12″ wide | 42″ Dia. pipe
Material: A36 carbon steel with PVC pad
Testing: Standard Q.C. Inspections

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. custom-designed a total of 110 of these large pipe clamps for an interstate natural gas pipeline in Ohio. The pipe clamps are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with PVC pad bonded to the clamp’s inside radius. The pipe clamps have a physical size of 12" wide, for a 42" diameter pipe. Standard QC inspections were performed with a turn-around time of 8 weeks.

The interstate natural gas pipeline project focused on constructing a 256-mile route. The project, targeting the energy needs in the Midwest at the time. Clearing activities started in Lake Marlboro, Nimishillen, and Washington townships, setting up the groundwork for the pipeline route that would run from eastern Ohio to the northern and western parts of the state.

The exact number of pipe clamps stocked by Piping Technology & Products (PT&P) can vary in the hundreds, as we offer a wide range of pipe clamps to accommodate different pipe sizes, materials, and load requirements. PT&P typically stocks a variety of types, including standard pipe clamps, adjustable clamps, riser clamps, U-bolts, and custom clamps, such as these, designed for specific applications however, in most cases we fabricate specifically in our Houston headquarters to the project and client needs based on the design where sizes, material, and technical requirements may vary.

This year, we made significant capital investments in our manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency and deliver top-quality support structures in greater quantities, enabling faster field deliveries.

Over 4,000 Cryogenic Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports Designed For Lng Service

Type: Pre-Insulated Pipe Shoe & Clamp Assemblies
Material: 304 L Stainless Steel | Protective Coating | Micarta® Insulation
Design: 20″ L x 36″ W x 75″ H | 56″ Dia. Pipeline | -459°F
Testing: Load & Pull Tests

PT&P designed over 4,000 supports for LNG service in Texas. These pre-insulated pipe shoe and clamp assemblies were custom designed for cryogenic temperatures with special low-temperature grade NP500CR Micarta® insulation. This type of Micarta® consists of a glass fabric with a specially formulated epoxy resin. It has excellent physical properties at operating temperatures down to -459°F. It has very low thermal conductivity and has been produced specifically for use in cryogenic applications. The shoes pictured are fabricated from 304 L stainless steel, A193 GR. B8 bolting, with a protective coating and designed for a 56″ diameter pipeline. The shoes measure 20″ long, 36″ wide(base), and 75″ high. This project included supports varied in pipe sizes from ¾” to 56″ in diameter. Load tests were performed prior to shipping this rush order.

As a leader in the supply of pipe supports for LNG facilities, we’ve passed on to our client’s design expertise, innovations, and deliverables for over 30 years. For this project, we supplied over 90,000 pipe supports over a three-year period, including:

  • On-site field assistance to identify the material, address material shortages, and inspection
  • Constant spring supports
  • Fabricated pipe shoes, guides, and anchors
  • Insulated shoes and supports
  • Structural supports
  • Slide plates
  • Sway braces and struts
  • Variable Spring supports
  • Wear Pads

In recent years, the use of various new and improved insulating materials have helped to produce a better product, made installation easier, lowered maintenance costs, and extended the life of the support. We offer testing at our manufacturing facility in Houston utilizing thermal scanning (infrared technology) to measure temperature at various locations around the support. Often, we build the test structures that are then employed to analyze different products for improvement based on client needs and product optimization in manufacturing and design. The results often lead to design improvements that improve the efficiency of the piping system and reduction in the cost of installation in the field. We offer 24×7 web-based emergency services, providing field service and quick turn-around time when you need it most.

Heavy-Duty Pipe Clamps for Service at a Coal-Fired Power Plant

April 26, 2022

Heavy-Duty Pipe Clamps For Service At A Coal-Fired Power Plant

These clamps were installed in a coal-fired power plant on the Ohio River and this plant features one of the largest smokestacks in the world at 1038 feet. For this plant, sub-bituminous coal is used in conjunction with steam turbine technology to generate thermal power with over 10k Gigawatts of output annually.

Heavy-duty pipe clamps are bolted around the pipe and connect to the remainder of the pipe hanger assembly. This assembly included a Fig. 30 Forged Turnbuckle, which is also available on Amazon as a stocked item. PT&P maintains an extensive inventory of pipe clamps required for pipe hangers and support assemblies. These Fig. 80 Three-Bolt Pipe Clamps are fabricated from carbon steel and for this project, the pipe clamps were painted with a red oxide primer. These pipe clamps are designed for 36” diameter pipelines and are recommended for suspension of cold pipelines or hotlines where little or no insulation is required and are capable of supporting both horizontal and vertical piping. A visual inspection test along with “sample pipe” dimensional checks were conducted prior to shipment.

Such clamps can be used in any type of piping system for various industries such as chemical, biofuel, food processing, and refining plants. We have the ability to get such products at your jobsite overnight given our pipe hanger hardware inventory of over 1 million pounds, our quick order system through Amazon, and 24/7 manufacturing and engineering support provided by our teams around the clock.

Do you need this exact pipe support? Skip the line and order our Standard Pipe Support Components on Amazon. From forged carbon steel turnbuckles and light or heavy 2-bolt, 3-bolt pipe clamps, riser clamps to long tangent u-bolts, we stock standard sizes for your quick-turn orders.

230 Chromoly Pipe Shoes & Clamps for a Natural Gas-Fed Ammonia Plant

230 Chromoly Pipe Shoes &Amp; Clamps Custom-Designed For Service At A Natural Gas-Fed Ammonia Plant

PT&P custom-designed 230 Chromoly pipe shoes & clamps for service at a natural gas-fed ammonia plant. The pipe shoes are designed for 1″ to 42″ diameter pipelines and coated with red epoxy for high temperatures (above 750°F). Each pipe shoe design utilizes custom two-bolt pipe clamps manufactured from 387 GR. 11 CL 2 material. This design is especially useful when welding to the process pipe is prohibited. These shoes clamp around the pipe instead of welding to the pipe in order to support a given load. Special bolting is required for high temperatures utilizing A 193 GR. B16 bolting material. Quality assurance inspection was conducted prior to shipment.

Pipe Supports on Shipping Floor

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. recently designed and fabricated 9 pipe supports with loads up to 75,000 lbs. for a 750MW power plant in Alabama. After extensive engineering hours and structure analysis, PT&P’s engineering department produced a detailed design and 3-D model for the supports that would allow them to run electronic interface checks. The supports are to support the cooling towers’ circulatory water system at the power plant. Six of the 9 supports were designed for a 60” line and 50,000 lb. load, and the remaining 3 were designed for a 78” line and 75,000 lbs. of load.

Furnace Springs Versus Standard Springs The major differences between standard springs and furnace springs are their construction and intended use. Furnace springs operate in much the same way as other variable spring supports. They are designed to support the pipe and tubes that are subject to vertical thermal movement. The design changes come about because, furnace springs are exposed to extreme temperatures.

FURNACE SPRINGS STANDARD SPRINGS
COATINGS Red oxide primer in order to aviod potential hazards when exposed to high temperatures Hot dipped galvanized which tends to melt the zinc coating. Molten zinc can damage surrounding pipe and equipment.
CONSTRUCTION
