Cryogenic Pipe Supports Designed for a Petrochemical Complex in Louisiana

Type: Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports for Cryogenic Application
Size: 46″ – 52″ Diameter Range | 10 lb. & 20 lb. Density PUF Foam
Material: Hot-dipped Galvanized Carbon Steel | PUF | Polyester Film & Aluminum Foil
Testing: Dimensional and Visual Inspection

PT&P custom designed pre-insulated pipe supports for a cryogenic pipeline at a petrochemical complex in Louisiana. They range in size from 46″ – 52″ diameter and are designed for temperatures down to -20°F. The top portion of the support is 10 lb. density and the bottom is 20 lb. high density polyurethane foam (PUF) insulation. The shoe and bearing plates were fabricated from carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish. These cold shoes include a vapor barrier comprised of a three layer lamination of polyester film and aluminum foil. Standard quality control tests were performed prior to shipment.

Insulated Pipe SupportThis webinar will give you an introduction to Pipe Shields, Inc. and its unique line of pre-insulated pipe supports, slides, guides and anchors that it developed and patented over it’s 40 year history. It will cover various designs, commercial applications (chilled and heated water lines, HVAC systems and low pressure steam lines), installation and maintenance procedures and the benefits of using pre-insulated pipe supports (vs. doing insulation in the field). This webinar will be delivered by Albert Dizon, General Manager of Pipe Shields, who has been working with pre-insulated pipe supports for 30+ years. Join us and receive some of his experience and wisdom!

Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports

This presentation will cover Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports, including pipe insulation products for both cryogenic and heat applications. Learn about the different types of insulation materials and get the inside scoop on our cold shoe design. Explore how Polyurethane foam is produced, from mixing polyols and isocyanates to inspecting the final product. Learn about anchor shoe testing, lateral load testing, compressive strength testing, and axial load testing.

The featured presenter, David Baker has over 12 years experience with pre-insulated pipe supports, on-site surveys, inspections, Installation and Maintenance. He is also the manager of PT&P’s Field Service division and our in-house consultant for pre-insulated pipe supports.

Insulated Pipe Supports Designed for Cryogenic and High Temperature Pipe Systems for an Ammonia Project

PT&P custom designed 98 insulated pipe supports for an ammonia project at a chemical plant in Louisiana. The supports were designed for cryogenic and high temperature pipe systems, with a 8″ to 22″ baseplate width and 10″ to 28″ saddle length. They were designed for pipe diameters of 6″-24″ and are comprised of polyurethane foam for cryogenic and FTM insulation for high temperatures. Standard Q.C. and dimensional tests were performed prior to shipment.

54" Dia. Pre-Insulated Pipe Shoes Custom Designed for a Pipeline in Texas

February 21, 2015

54

Pipe Shields/PT&P designed and manufactured pre-insulated pipe shoes for a 54″ diameter pipeline in a chemical processing plant in Texas. The hot shoes are custom designed with a wide base to accommodate lateral movement and axial movements of +/- 4 1/2″. We designed the hot shoes to include additional bolting along with bolting torque recommendations order to help prevent slippage of the pipe inside the pipe shoe. We designed the supports to accommodate vertical loads up to 22,200 lb. and temperatures up to 1800°F. The outer part of the shoe was manufactured of hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel while the inner insulation material is 4″ thick high density calcium silicate insulation.
