Hydraulic snubbers are designed with a pre-defined amount of stroke. Those stroke ratings are available in 6 inch increments from 6″ to 24″. The amount of movement, which could be accommodated by any stroke designation, would depend upon the initial setting. For example, setting a 6″ stroke snubber at the midpoint would mean that during operation, the snubber could extend 3″ maximum or retract 3″ maximum.

Because snubbers are not meant to be active support components, they could be installedat any time during the construction phase. It should also be noted that pipingsnubbers can be retrofit to existing systems at any time.

Sway braces utilize a spring coil to provide a restraint force in both a tension andcompression mode. The magnitude of the restraint force is dependent upon thespring rate and the amount of deflection which will be seen during operation.

Either sway braces or sway struts can be used to suppress swinging of the pipeline. Note that sway braces permit pipe deflection while sway struts are rigid supports meant to prevent all movement.

The pipe saddle size will be dependent upon the pipe diameter and the thickness of the insulation.

At Piping Technology & Products, the term pre-insulated used in the context of pipe supports, refers to the feature of pipe shoes which allows a segment of the insulation to be incorporated into the support. This means that the insulation will be installed into position at the time of the support installation and remain in tact throughout the duration of the pipe support's lifespan.

The strength of the hanger rod is dependent upon its diameter. The smallest standard rod diameter for Piping Technology is .5 inch with a load capacity of 1,350 lb. and the largest with a 3 inch diameter and a load capacity of 60,100 lb.

U-bolts can be utilized as pipe guides when the horizontal forces are relatively small (usually 10% or less) compared with the anticipated vertical load.

The most common method for supporting vertical piping would be to first weld shear lugs into position, and then utilize a riser clamp which straddles the pipe. The load is then transferred by the riser clamp’s load bolts through hanger rod connections to our supporting structure.

When determining the required length of a u-bolt, one should provide a leg length which extends from the centerline of the pipe to end of the threaded portion, while still permitting a hexnut/locknut combination with full thread engagement.
When installing clevises, first you should disengage the pin connection of the clevis. Then align the clevis pin holes with the existing component. Place the pin through the holes of the clevis an component and place the lock in the pin.

In order to specify a u-bolt for pipes, you must provide the diameter of the pipe, the material, the tangent length, and either the load or thickness of the u-bolt rod.
The name of the temporary stand used to hold pipes in place are generally known as pipe stands.

For saddle supports that do not require welding, the installation process would involve locating the saddle support in the correct position, utilizing the adjustable component (usually a threaded member) to accommodate height requirements and finally ensuring that the saddle component is completely in contact with the outer pipe wall.
