Big Ton Spring Supports Designed for an Oil Refinery in Australia

Type: Big Ton Spring Supports
Material: A36 carbon steel | Hot-dipped Galvanized | SS Slide Plates
Design: 16,276 lb. Ld. | 0.196″ Up Travel

The big ton spring support is used for supporting large heavy units such as compressors, vessels and pumps in power and petrochemical plants. The housing and frame are fabricated from carbon steel and the spring coils are coated in neoprene. Polished stainless steel slide plates are added to the top of the load flange, which reduces the coefficient of friction to allow for lateral movement. This big ton spring support is designed to allow limited movement of 0.196″ upwards, with an operating load of 16,276 lb. This big ton spring enabled the client to reduce engineering man hours by avoiding the redesign of the piping system due to limited space requirement.

Custom Designed Big Ton Spring Supports for a Propane Dehydrogenation Application in Texas

Type: Big Ton Spring Supports
Size: 42″ x 24″ x 26 1/2″
Material: Carbon Steel
Design: 94,261 lb. Load & 0.085” Movement
Testing: Standard Load Tests

PT&P custom designed big ton spring supports for a propane dehydrogenation application at a chemical plant in Texas. The components within this assembly include the spring housing, coils, name plates, pressure plate, and load indicator. While both assemblies measure 42” L x 24” W x 26-1/2” H, it was modified based on independent specifications for operating loads and movement to accommodate a load of 94,261 lb. and 0.085” of movement. This type of support is ideal for applications, such as supporting pressure vessels that combine very heavy loads with thermal expansion because of the stability they provide. The big ton was tested in the load cell to insure proper operation throughout the entire working range of the coils.

Big Ton Spring Supports Designed for a Liquid Natural Gas Facility in Australia

Type: Big Ton Spring Supports
Size: 19-5/8″ x 19-5/8″ x 15″
Material: Hot-dipped Galvanized Carbon Steel | A193 Gr. B7
Design: Movements: 3/16 ” – 1/4″ | 16,619 lb. Load
Testing: Load Cell throughout Operating Range

These big ton spring supports were designed for a liquid natural gas (LNG) plant in Australia. They were selected because the application required supporting heavy loads as the supported equipment undergoes thermal expansion during operation. The assemblies are fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel. The travel stop rods and nuts material is A193 Gr. B7. The units measure 19-5/8″ x 19-5/8″ x 15″ and are capable of supporting loads up to 13,619 lb. while accommodating movements from 3/16″ to 1/4″. The big tons were tested with a load cell to insure proper operation throughout the big ton’s operating range.
