PT&P custom designed these personnel protection shields for a power plant in Wyoming. The personnel protection shields are used when insulating the line is not necessary, but operating temperatures require safeguarding personnel from coming into contact with the pipe. These shields are designed for an 8” diameter pipe operating at 1050°F. They are fabricated from carbon steel and range in lengths up to 36”.
Presently, blind flanges are used to provide an airtight cover to various piping systems that include pipelines in the oil industry, heat exchangers, ships, tanks, etc.
Routine maintenance requires the heavy duty blind flange to be removed for cleaning and repairs. However, for these types of flanges, it is quite difficult to disassemble, clean and repair. It typically requires employing a forklift, crane, or other lifting devices. This can require excessive man-hours, and the alignment of the flanges can remain unpredictable.
PT&P introduced a closure flange hinge with specially designed self‐locking bolts and two self-lubricated hinge studs to support the blind flange when all the fastening bolts are removed for maintenance or replacement. The blind flange can be opened like a “door” with little effort. Our product opens up to 180 degrees, providing full accessibility to work on the pipeline, heat exchanger, or other equipment.
To solve the issues, PT&P invented two versions of closure flange hinges for blind flanges: temporary / removable hinge and permanent / fixed hinge
PT&P recently designed 159 permanent and removable hinges for up to 72″ diameters, We can accommodate for larger sizes upon request.
PT&P custom designed, fabricated and provided installation oversight for sixty-five personnel protection shields for a refinery in Texas. The personnel protection shields are used when insulating the line is not necessary, but operating temperatures require safeguarding personnel from coming into contact with the pipe. These shields are fabricated from carbon steel with a two-coat paint system. They are 11” diameter, and range in lengths up to 48”.
Sweco Fab., a division of PT&P, designed and fabricated this 108″ diameter storage tank that will be submerged inside a containment tank for a chemical plant in Texas. The storage tank is fabricated from 1/2″ thick SA516-70 carbon steel and is 240″ in length. The containment water tank measures 295″ L x 124″ W x 128″ H. The storage tank is designed for 100 PSIG at 130°F internally and 15 PSIG at 130°F externally. The storage tank was hydro tested for 1 hour at 150 PSI and a full radiography test was done prior to shipment.
Sweco Fab, Inc. (a division of PT&P) custom designed a transition piece weighing 6,000 lb. for a facility in Texas. The piece measures 48″ x 72″ x 72″ and is fabricated from carbon steel. It will be used to connect a round water tower to a square duct. Prior to shipping, the product was 100% dye penetrant tested.
Sweco Fab. designed and fabricated storage tanks from 1/4″ thick ASTM A240 grade 304 stainless steel. The tanks are 42″ in diameter, 72″ in overall length and 39-7/8″ in height. The legs are fabricated from SA36 carbon steel. They are designed for 1 PSIG and ambient temperatures. The storage tanks were hydro tested and leak tested for 8 hours prior to shipment.
Sweco Fab, designed and fabricated a high pressure knock-out drum for a refining company in El Paso, Texas. The pressure vessel was designed according to ASME Section VIII Div. 1 codes with an overall height of 351″ and inside drum diameter of 48″. Its main application is to separate the vapor and liquid in the refining process. It contains a fire proofing skirt and a stainless steel demister pad that aids the separation process. The shell is fabricated from 3/8″ thick SA516 Grade 70 carbon steel, and the forge fittings are fabricated from SA105 carbon steel. The knock out drum has an operation temperature of 450°F at 125 psig, and underwent radiography, dye penetrant and hydro-tests before it was shipped.
Sweco Fab., a division of PT&P, fabricated a water treatment vessel from 3/8″ thick SA516 Grade 70 carbon steel for a refining facility in Texas. This pressure vessel has an 84″ outside diameter, is 11′ tangent to tangent and has an overall height of 14′-8″. It is designed for maximum working pressure of 100 psig at 100°F. A radiography test and hydrotest at 130 psig, held for 1 hour was conducted prior to shipment.
This Glycol Makeup Tank is fabricated entirely from ASTM A240-304 stainless steel and is rated for 0 psig at 150°F. The tank has a 1,000 gallon capacity and measures 48″ I.D. x 10′-8″ seam-to-seam. The stand pictured behind is also fabricated from stainless steel and measures 11′ high. The customer ordered six additional units and all the Makeup Tanks underwent leak testing prior to shipment.
