The picture above show the replacement of a tank mounted on a truck by the Sweco Fab division of Piping Technology & Products, Inc. In this case the customer delivered the damaged tank to our site so measurements of the mounting could be obtained. The old tank (upper left) was damaged beyond repair when a vacuum was inadvertently created inside the tank.

The two pictures above show a variety of spring supports for piping projects. At the top left is a row of spring hanger variables ready to form assemblies with rods, clamps and other hardware. Piping Technology & Products, Inc. manufactures all types of pipe supports and provides complete assemblies packaged and tagged to customer specifications for easy identification by the field crews who install them in power plants, petrochemical plants and paper mills. On the pallet at the top right and scattered through the lower picture are several Type F (base type) variable supports. Pictured above are special Type F variable springs being prepared for shipment overseas. Finite element analysis was used to specify stronger load columns to allow for a possible 30% lateral load. Loads as high as 30,000 pounds were required for some items. These variables also required a special three coat paint (white).

Engineered spring hangers shown are being calibrated and tested at Piping Technology & Products, Inc., Houston, Texas Facility. A digital load cell is attached to the hydraulic press that guarantees calibration to the exact loads specified. The spring hanger will support the tubes in a reformer furnace destined for Venezuela.

The picture above shows a 20 foot section of a “Finger Joint” expansion assembly produced by PT&P for the Howard Franklin Bridge from Tampa to St. Petersburg in Florida.
This section is assembled and ready for shipment. Note the galvanized finish on everything except the temporary shipping bars. Each assembly includes four sections having a total weight of 11,227 lb. The fingers on this bridge are tapered to minimize tire damage to vehicles.

The pictures above show cryogenic pipe supports designed by a Houston E&C firm for a LNG plant in Algeria. Piping Technology & Products, Inc. fabricated the these supports for a 14” pipe which operates below –50oF. Three different materials are used. The upper part which bolts to the pipe is fabricated from an alloy which retains its strength at low temperatures. The middle section is a Permali® block selected because of its strength and durability and because it is a poor conductor of heat. The bottom plate of galvanized carbon steel is bolted to the Permali® block. Permali® is a phenolic laminate made from layers of wood impregnated under vacuum with a synthetic resin. A crossed orientation of the hard wood fibers is used to provide extra strength.

The photograph above shows a unique combination of Type F variable springs designed by a client engineer to support large skid-mounted pumps. Piping Technology & Products, Inc. fabricated the connecting assemblies which use variable springs inside pods to support the pump skids from the side. The number of pods varies from size to twelve, depending on the size of the pump, and the loads supported by each type F spring vary from 1800 to 3400 pounds depending on the geometry of the assembly. The distance between rods varies from two to three feet. A total of nine units are being exported to refinery project overseas.
