68,000 lb. Load Custom Clamp

This custom pipe clamp will be used in conjunction with a hydraulic snubber to restrain pipe movement during extremely high disturbances. It is designed to support the pipe where two heavy-duty flanges join. The yoke, lugs, and strap sections of the clamp are carbon steel, and the clamp bolts and load bolt/pin are stainless steel.

The outer diameter of the clamp section is 16″, and the inner diameter is 10″. The upper lugs are fabricated from 3/4″ thick plate with a 2-1/4″ diameter load bolt. The maximum load for this custom clamp is 68,000 lb.

A-Type Variable Spring Supports with a Load Capacity of 596 lb.

Fabricated from A-36 carbon steel, these PTP-4 A-Type variable spring supports measure 6 5/8″ OD x 19 9/16″ in length with an installed load of 596 lb. They have a spring rate of 56 lb/in., and a downward travel of 1.375″. These supports are designed to suspend from a rod that is threaded through the upper portion of the variable (see Fig. PTP-4). This particular design is generally used to keep the variable further away from the beam to avoid interference.

Stainless Steel Trunnions for an LNG Plant

These stainless steel trunnions are designed to support a vertical pipe used in an LNG plant. The trunnions will support stainless steel pipes with diameters ranging between 24″ and 42″. The diameter of the trunnions ranges in size from 12″ to 22″. The overall length is 34″. All of the weld seams were 100% dye-penetrant tested before being shipped to the plant.

200-C Type Constants for a Steam Plant

These 200-C type constants are fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and are designed for a load ranging between 17,800 lb. and 25,600 lb. The constants have a downward travel ranging between 12 1/2″ and 16″. This support maintains a constant load throughout the designed travel. The diameter of the spring coil housing is 21″. The design includes a universal locking device capable of locking the hanger rod at any desired position. It also includes lifting lugs that aid in installing the constant in the field. Standard load and travel testing was performed before shipping to a steam plant.

Pig Launchers/Receivers for a Petroleum Pipeline

The three pig launchers measure 127″, 172″, and 189″ in length and are designed for 263 PSIG at 185ºF. The pipe diameters of each unit measure 10″, 18″, and 20″, respectively. Two of the pig launchers/receivers are fabricated from carbon steel and one from stainless steel. All of the launchers/receivers were hydro-tested to ensure product quality.

Refractory Lined Pre-Insulated Supports

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and fabricated rotational anchor pre-insulated pipe supports for a fluid processing plant in Kuwait. The supports range in size from 24″ to 34″ in diameter and are capable of withstanding 12,500 lb. of vertical load. The bottom of the hot shoe is fabricated from carbon steel and the top from stainless steel.

These supports include stainless steel inner thrust plates that function as an anchor to prohibit the pipe from rotating within the shoe. These supports are designed for steam super heater lines and provide thermal insulation for the pipe in order to prevent heat loss and condensation.

8 Foot Long Big Ton Variable Spring Assembly

This big ton spring assembly is designed for a local area refinery and is fabricated from carbon steel components with a painted finish. The top of the load flange has three PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates. The base is 96″ x 18″ and the installed height is 24″. This big ton spring will be utilized to support heavy (in excess of 76,000 lb.) loads where a standard variable spring would be undersized. The big ton spring design includes an array of parallel coils within one frame to produce a large load-carrying capacity while maintaining the same spring rate. The assembly is designed to withstand an operating load of 76,800 lb. and has a downward travel of 0.894″.

Prior to fabrication, each of the coils was individually tested to ensure correct spring rate and load capacity. After fabrication, the entire assembly was tested throughout the entire load and travel range.

7 Foot Long Pressure Vessel for a Chemical Plant

This pressure vessel measures 84″ in length and is fabricated entirely of SA516-70 carbon steel. It is designed for low temperature environments and has a design pressure of 117 PSIG at 500°F. A hydrostatic test was completed at 205 PSIG prior to shipment.
