A “U-Type” and 6 “C-Type” constant spring supports were designed to support piping in a corrosive environment located off-shore in Malaysia. The U-Type measures 21″ x 25″ x 57″ and C-Types range in size from 11-5/8″ x 17″ x 4″ to 18-3/4″ x 32″ x 80″.
The constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with a fluorocarbon coating on the pins. The frame, housing, and all components were coated with a 3-coat paint system to resist corrosion. Standard load and travel tests were performed prior to shipping the constants on a rush basis.

The pig launchers and receivers were designed for a coal-bed methane gas production facility in Colorado. They are equipped with an integral safety locking system, which works on the principle of mechanical key interlocking (transfer of keys). This system avoids serious injuries from human error and insures safety of personnel.
Safety Locking System
One starter key per launcher/receiver is kept in a box located in the control room. Each lock is executed with two keys. When the first valve is opened with this starter key, it releases the second key. This key is transferred to the next valve, which releases the second key from that valve, and so on and so forth. This process guides the operator through the specified sequence for opening and closing valves with a unique key for each step.

Project Highlight: Custom ASME Pressure Vessel for Beaumont Facility
Piping Technology & Products recently completed the fabrication of a specialized ASME pressure vessel designed for a major Beaumont chemical plant. This project highlights our ability to deliver critical infrastructure that meets rigorous safety and performance standards within the petrochemical industry.
Engineering a Heavy-Duty Piping Vessel
The core of this project was a heavy-duty piping vessel engineered to meet specific high-pressure chemical processing requirements. Due to the critical nature of the application, the pipe vessel underwent precise fabrication and extensive non-destructive testing to ensure compliance with all ASME code requirements before shipment.
Strategic Integration of Vessel Piping
In addition to the vessel shell, the project required complex integration of the vessel piping. These connections and nozzles were strategically fabricated to ensure seamless alignment with the plant’s existing infrastructure. By delivering this robust solution, we ensured that the Beaumont chemical plant could maintain operational efficiency with a fully compliant, high-performance system.
Engineered for Uptime: Turnkey ASME Vessel & Piping Integration
Unlike standard fabricators who supply standalone components, we engineer the complete pipe vessel system: from the high-pressure shell to the complex vessel piping connections. We deliver fully code-compliant, custom solutions that ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure, minimizing downtime across nearby Texas chemical plants and global facilities.
An assortment of standard variable spring supports were manufactured ranging in size from 8-5/8″ to 12-3/4″ dia. with installed heights ranging from 9-7/16″ to 18-1/8″. The F-Type pipe hanger assembly is used to support the pipe from below and are typically mounted to concrete pads via anchor bolts or welded to structural steel. The various springs shown are designed for operating conditions ranging from loads of 1750 lb. with .02″ travel to 21,280 lb. loads with .13″ travel. As with all of our variable supports, these were quality checked with a 100% spring coil deflection test and a load cell calibration to set the assembly at the prescribed installed load.

Check out our most recent article that looks at the history of insulated pipe supports through the past 100 years. Learn about the developments made in the 1950’s and 1960’s that introduced the use of “Foam Glass”, a lightweight material that is manufactured primarily from recycled glass and used in the design of insulated pipe supports. Later, polyurethane was developed to provide greater load carrying capabilities. Read the full article on the:
Over 30 cryogenic supports fabricated from a combination of carblon steel, permali® block and stainless steel were manufactured for an LNG plant in Abu Dhabi. The shoes measures 18″ x 14″ x 12″ and are designed for 10″ of thermal movement and temperatures as low as -167°C. The cold shoes are coated with a custom paint job and went through standard testing prior to shipment.

We recently posted a new Snubber article on our website. It provides a technical look into both hydraulic and mechanical snubbers – how they are used in a piping system and how they function. Most importantly, the article tells you the difference between various types of snubbers which is helpful in choosing the appropriate snubber for your piping system needs.
Ever wonder what makes a constant spring support different from a variable spring support? How does each one function? How do they support loads and allow for movement in a pipeline? Check out our new spring support article that provides all the answers to these questions and more.
