200 U-Type Constant Spring Supports with Slide Plates to Reduce FrictionSlide Plate on Constant
These custom-designed constants will be utilized for a heavy load of 109,000 lb. They are designed for a downward travel of 1 1/2″. In order to support the heavy load and low take-off, the constants are designed with an inner and outer spring coil with the outer coil measuring 56″L with an 18 3/4″ O.D. These U-Type constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish.
The dimensions of the constant are 31″H x 90″L x 32″W. The image above shows a PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plate on top to reduce the friction between the constant load flange and the structure above the support. The constant also includes slide plates between the table and the frame of the constant to reduce the friction on the table and improve constant deviation.

120 3/8″ Long Custom Variable Spring Supports with Four Individual Coils
These variable springs are custom-designed from carbon steel material. The springs are fabricated with extra-long housings to allow for a pre-compression lower than the standard. This ensured that the starting (cold) load of 26,745 lb. could be achieved. The springs are designed for a movement of 5.55″ downward, which would produce an operating load for each assembly of 38,305 lb. These springs are to be utilized in pairs together with a 22″ riser clamp to produce a 407″ total pipe hanger assembly length and an overall combined operating load of 76,610 lb.

78 Heavy Duty Pipe Saddles for Insulated Ductile Iron Pipelines
78 Heavy-Duty Pipe Saddles for Insulated Ductile Iron Pipelines
Piping Technology & Products completed the fabrication of 78 heavy-duty pipe saddles specifically designed to support insulated ductile iron pipelines. This large-scale order highlights our ability to deliver high-volume, custom-engineered solutions for complex industrial infrastructure projects.
Protecting Critical Insulation
The primary challenge in supporting insulated piping is preventing the pipe’s weight from crushing the insulation at the support point. These pipeline saddles are engineered to cradle the pipe, distributing the vertical load over a large surface area. By reducing concentrated stress, the saddles help preserve the structural integrity of both the insulation and its vapor barrier—minimizing thermal loss and reducing the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI). This design approach enhances overall system efficiency and long-term reliability.
Custom Fabrication for Ductile Iron
Ductile iron pipelines are often used in water and wastewater applications where durability is critical. Each saddle was custom-fabricated to match the precise outer diameter (OD) of the insulated piping system, ensuring proper fit and load distribution. Manufactured to rigorous quality standards, these supports provide long-term structural stability and dependable field performance. This project reflects Piping Technology & Products’ ongoing commitment to delivering engineered pipe supports that extend the service life of both piping systems and insulation assemblies.

Refurbished A-36 Carbon Steel G-Type Constant on a Rush BasisDamaged Constants in the Field
This constant spring support is fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and measures 39″ long x 29″ high x 11″ wide. This replacement support is designed to carry 11,000 lb. of piping load with a travel of 2 1/2″ upward. The limiting design factor was to stay within existing structural boundaries while allowing the constant assembly to move through its designed travel range.

The overall length of each sway strut is 96 inches. The pipe hanger assembly is designed to control 20,000 lb. of piping load during the system’s thermal expansion and contraction.
These sway struts have a ball joint located at each end connected by an extension rod that controls the piping system through its complete range of thermal piping movements. It is used to restrain the movement of piping in one direction while providing for movement due to thermal expansion or contraction in another direction.
